An original U.S. military insect-repellent jacket from the 1980s, constructed from an open olive-drab mesh designed to create a lightweight barrier against mosquitoes and other biting insects. The official garment was produced in a 67% cotton / 33% polyester blend and features an attached hood with drawcord adjustment, an additional drawcord at the hem, elongated sleeves, and a loose, breathable construction intended for layering. The heavily textured mesh gives the piece an especially distinctive appearance today, sitting somewhere between functional military equipment and experimental knitwear.
